? Interestingly, the journey that could have taken the children of Israel about 2 weeks from Egypt to the Promise Land of Canaan took them 40 years. So too is the fact that of the over 2 million who left Egypt only 2 persons over 20 years old (Joshua and Caleb) were able to entered the Promise land.

?Why? God said He took them through the wilderness for 40 years to humble them, and to prove and know what was in their hearts (Duet 8:2). Inspite of the many signs, wonders miracles and many other good things He did for them, many still chose not to humble themselves and believe Him.
He warns us not to follow their example of unbelief.

? This world is a wilderness for us. God wants us to humbly believe and obey Him, fulfil our purpose and not be with the fearful and the unbelieving who have their part in the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8).

?It takes humility to believe /obey God and He knows when He has sufficiently influenced us to believe Him. Dr. Mary
Banks in her book, “The Power of Belief” says:
” *When God provides proof of His presence and power, it is a sin to reject what He says or does. To do so is termed, unbelief.”*

? One example is that you may be required to humble yourself to someone who wronged you. I was. There was a time I was thin-skinned and easily offended. I would run as fast as I could from any one and any situation that was offensive. One day I was offended by the actions of a couple who lived next door and withdrew my love for a while. The Lord showed me fear and a lack of love in my heart. This time I chose to apologize to them for my lack of love, forgave and reached out to them. A year later they got married and the young lady got saved. Today, we are still good friends.

?When we humble ourselves, believe and obey God, we can experience His power to transform our lives and those around us.

? And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to *humble* thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. Duet 8:2 KJV

?Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of *unbelief* . Heb.4:11

*Reflection:*
God desires that you humbly believe, trust and obey Him in all of your situations, and relationships. This is for your good and His glory. Will you?
