Our History
Founders and Inspiration
Andrew and Donnette Norman are the Founders and Presidents of Passion and Purity. The Normans are both Ministers of Religion, Educators, and Trained Guidance Counselors. Their active involvement with youth over the years spans school, church, and community contexts. They have also been influenced by the life and work of Jim and Elizabeth Elliot, Christian missionaries who dedicated their lives to spreading the Gospel to remote regions of the world. The life experiences and publication entitled Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot later inspired the naming of the Passion and Purity movement.
Launch of Passion and Purity
Passion and Purity was officially launched on September 20, 2008, with their first high school conference hosted by the Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls, with over 1,000 girls from 113 schools located in nine parishes across the island. During that same school year, Passion and Purity hosted a boys’ conference at Jamaica College, a co-ed conference at Manchester High School, and saw the launch of an I Am a Promise children’s conference at Wolmer’s Preparatory School.
Growth and Conferences Across Jamaica
Passion and Purity has since had several major conferences, which have been hosted by several High Schools across Jamaica, including: Ardenne High School, St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School, Calabar High School, the Titchfield and Port Antonio High Schools, Merl Grove High School, Wolmer’s Trust High School for Boys, St. George’s College, Knox College, St. Catherine High School, Jamaica College (for a second conference), Maggotty High School, Pembroke Hall High School, West Wood High School, the St. Andrew Technical High School, Manchester High School, and Munro College.
We have also participated in numerous church events across the island as well as being featured on several radio and television networks. The year 2023 saw us having a Girls’ conference hosted by Merl Grove High School and a Boys and Men’s conference Fathers and Sons - The Turning by the Tarrant Baptist Church.
Development of Chapters and Outreach Programs
Over the years, Passion and Purity has introduced and developed chapters, namely: Men’s, Women’s, Marriage, Parents, Children, Youth, and Teachers. To engage the target audience of each of these, Passion and Purity has hosted youth camps, summer school sessions, forums, seminars, and workshops, focus groups within the context of church, school, and media, as well as engaged in community outreach.
Through our registered Passion and Purity Foundation, we are currently engaged in social outreach programs such as visits to children’s homes, the establishment of awards programs for top-achieving students, and mentorship of youth across Jamaica. We have published over twenty (20) books, which are currently used by children and youth for reflection and training with an educational component and emphasis on values and attitudes. The Year 2024 saw the launching of the focus Jesus In Our Schools in partnership with Inter-School Christian Fellowship.

Our partnerships with Christian Teachers in Action (CTIA), Marriage is Honorable, and Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) are to be honored as they have helped to maintain a sustainable presence in some of our high schools, colleges, and universities.
We are grateful for the support of Bible Teachers International over the years and also celebrate our church partnerships with many churches across Jamaica, including our main host churches:

Special thanks must also be given to our advisors, many partners/endorsers, our sponsors, and our very hardworking and dedicated Passion and Purity executive and committee members.
Gratitude and Recognition
The tremendous work done in the launching of Passion and Purity in Jamaica would not have been possible without the kind support of all persons previously mentioned.
