Passion and Purity

About Us

Passion and Purity is a registered non-profit organization and charity, geared towards the training and development of individuals, particularly our youth and children. The movement, with its motto: “Finding your Passion – Embracing your Purity,” is a socializing tool aimed at helping to focus the minds of the youth to the ideals of being passionate about their ambitions while embracing their purity and childhood innocence.

Passion and Purity embraces Godly principles, values and integrity and encourages a spirit of excellence in order to fulfill its mandate. We believe youth should be developed in all areas – spiritual, physical, emotional, social and intellectual. We offer help for them to identify and resist those things that are meant to sap their creative energies and prevent them from fulfilling their purpose in life.

The following themes are dealt with in several contexts:

1. Finding and Unlocking My Talents – My Passion
• Removing the “I don‟t know what I want to become” syndrome.
• Recognizing that my talents and abilities are UNIQUE gifts from God.
• Recognizing that I must be a good student, an agent of change, a positive contributor to
society and a nation builder through my UNIQUE attributes.

2. Maintaining My Purity and Being Proud Of It
• Destroying the myth that sex is mandatory for youth.
• Reversing the violence, drugs and sex culture we have created.
• Showing that purity of thoughts, motives and action releases creative abilities.

3. Passionately Pure and “Cool”
• Recognizing that being passionately pure does not destroy one‟s social image of being „cool‟
or „hype‟.
• Being passionately pure actually makes you a trendsetter.

Our History

Andrew and Donnette Norman are the Founders and Presidents of Passion and Purity. The Normans‟ are both Ministers of Religion, Educators and Trained Guidance Counselors. Their active involvement with youth over the years spans school, church and community contexts. They have also been influenced by the life and work of Jim and Elizabeth Elliot, Christian missionaries who dedicated their lives to spreading the Gospel to remote regions of the world. The life experiences and publication entitled „Passion and Purity‟ by Elisabeth Elliot later inspired the naming of the Passion and Purity movement.
Passion and Purity was officially launched on September 20, 2008 with their first high school conference hosted by the Wolmer‟s Trust High School for Girls, with over 1,000 girls from 113 schools located in nine parishes across the island. During that same school year, Passion and Purity hosted a boys‟ conference at Jamaica College, a co-ed conference at Manchester High School and saw the launch of an „I Am a Promise‟ children‟s conference at Wolmer‟s Preparatory School.
Passion and Purity has since had several major conferences which have been hosted by several High Schools across Jamaica including: Ardenne High School, St. Hilda‟s Diocesan High School, Calabar High School, the Titchfield and Port Antonio High Schools, Merl Grove High School, Wolmer‟s Trust High School for Boys‟, St. George‟s College, Knox College, St. Catherine High School, Jamaica College (for a second conference), Maggotty High School, Pembroke Hall High School, West Wood High School the St Andrew Technical High School, Manchester High School and Munro College. We have also participated in numerous church events across the island as well as being featured on several radio and television networks. The year 2023, saw us having a Girl‟s conference hosted by Merl Grove High School and a Boys and Men‟s conference Fathers and Sons- The Turning by the Tarrant Baptist Church.
Over the years, Passion and Purity has introduced and developed chapters namely: Men‟s, Women‟s, Marriage, Parents, Children, Youth and Teachers. To engage the target audience of each of these, Passion and Purity has hosts youth camps, summer school sessions, forums, seminars, and workshops, focus groups within the context of church, school, media as well as engage in community outreach. Through our registered Passion and Purity Foundation, we are currently engaged in social outreach programs such as visits to children‟s homes, the establishment of awards programs for top achieving students and mentorship of youth across Jamaica. We have published over twenty (20) books, which are currently used by children and youth for reflection and training with an educational component and emphasis on values and attitudes. The Year 2024 saw the launching of the focus *Jesus In our Schools* in partnership with Interschool Christian Fellowship.
High commendations are given to several persons and organizations such as: Host Principal, Mrs. Colleen Montague of the Wolmer‟s Trust High School for Girls‟; Mrs. Olecia Wedderburn- Christie and the Late Bishop Rennie Lyn Williams.
Our partnerships with Christian Teachers in Action (CTIA), Marriage is Honorable and Inter School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) is to be honored as they have helped to maintain a sustainable presence in some of our high schools, colleges and universities. We are grateful for the support of Bible Teachers International over the years and also celebrate our church partnerships with many churches across Jamaica including our main host churches: Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP), the New Testament Church of God, First Assembly of God in Mandeville and The Eternal Church of Jesus Christ- The Record. Special thanks must also be given to our advisors, many partners/endorsers, our sponsors and to our very hardworking and our dedicated Passion and Purity executive and committee members. The tremendous work done in the launching of Passion and Purity in Jamaica would not have been possible without the kind support of all persons previously mentioned.
