*Eternal Perspectives: The Record and Humility*

?Yesterday’s sermon at Church was about humility. As I listened keenly the Lord began to speak to my heart, that this is a most needful and very important focus for everyone, especially in this season. As I searched my own heart I saw times when I had walked in pride. Thank God for the gift and grace of repentance.

?Pride is resisting the will of God and also having an exalted view of one’s self. The truth is that pride is deadly. The Word of God says: “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Prov 16:18.
It was pride that caused Satan to be thrown out of heaven. He lost his place and can never repent. He therefore seeks to have people follow his example. In fact, he is now called the King of the children of pride. Job 41:24.

?How many times have we missed opportunities, or lived in fear, pain, hurt or regret because we refused to humble ourselves to God, His people or even the spiritual and natural laws, associated with for example our health or security? These are laws that He created out of His love for us.

?God has declared that Eternal Life is only found in His son, Jesus Christ. ( 1 John 5:11). We must humble ourselves to receive His life at salvation, or risk losing our souls.
*God’s record of humility is that He only gives grace (his divine favour, influence or enablement) to those who humble them selves to His Word. However, he resists the proud.1 Peter 5:5*

?The truth is if you are not a Christian or a Christian who is resisting the will of God; you are walking in pride against God and must humble your heart to Him and others you have offended to be saved, forgiven and restored in fellowship with Him.

*Scripture in Focus:*
?He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride. Job 41:34. KJV

?Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.1 Peter 5:5 KJV

?A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Prov. 29:23 KJV

*Reflection:*
God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud. How do you feel about God resisting you? Putting off repentance for another day is pride. If you need to repent before Him, why not now?
