The Record: Humility: Bold Confidence in God!

?Humility is walking in obedience, boldness and strong confidence in God; knowing that without Him we can do nothing. This can sometimes be called ‘pride’ by person’s who do not understand God’s plans, purposes and His preparation in our lives; to be a part of that which not only challenges but defeats that which intimidates them.

? Jesus’ experience was that some persons thought that He was proud because, He testified of the works that His Father was doing in and through Him. The same is true of men like David and Joseph .
In fact, David’s elder brother Eliab accused him of being *proud and naughty* at a time when he was being inspired by God to deliver his people from Goliath. 1 Samuel 17:28‭-‬29

?I had to learn that humility is not being shy and intentionally holding back to seem humble, or hiding who God created me to be out of a fear of being thought of as being proud. That was simply false humility.
One day while whining before the Lord in prayer out of a fear of being judged, He rebuked me for the pride and unbelief that was in my heart and reminded me that He had prepared me for what He wanted me to do. He also encouraged me not to cast away my confidence which has great pay-back rewards by Him. I was to come *boldly* to His throne of grace in prayer with a pure heart. (Donnette)

?I have learnt that boldness and confidence also comes from discerning your own heart by the Word of God; and also from agreement and obedience with the witness of the Holy Spirit; whose witness or judgement is always true. God desires that we walk in His will with unquenchable boldness.(Andrew)

*The righteous are as bold as a lion* Prov.28:1 This boldness comes from the humble who are surrendered to the will of God.

**Scripture in Focus*
?And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? *I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart;* for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle. And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
1 Samuel 17:28‭-‬29 KJV

?I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: *for without me ye can do nothing.* John 15:5 KJV

?Cast not away therefore your *confidence,* which hath great recompence of reward.
Hebrews 10:35 KJV

?The wicked flee when no man pursueth: *but the righteous are bold as a lion* Proverbs 28:1 KJV

*Reflection*
Humility also speaks of having great boldness and confidence which comes with knowing God is in you, with you and working through you. Is this your testimony and is it worth giving up everything for?
